SUMATERA, Indonesia April 7- The indigenous people of the Mentawai Islands continue to live deep in the jungle and have retained many of their ancient traditions including extensively tattooing their bodies. The tattoos hold deep cultural significance and symbolize their land of origin and social status. The Mentawai tattoo is believed to be the oldest tattoo in the world dating back to 1500 BC.

Piper died from wounds sustained when an enemy Improvised Explosive Device exploded near his Ground Mobility Vehicle near Orgun-e, Afghanistan.

KANJIZA, Serbia Sept. 10- Refugees arrive by double-decker bus in to the Serbian boarder town of Kanjiza where they will wait at the Vasariste refugee aid point before continuing on to Hungary. Doctors and translators working with CRS/Caritas are helping provide basic medical services and information about the boarder crossing at the aid station. Over 4,000 refugees pass through Vasariste daily on their way to other European countries, primarily Germany.

In Bali, the deceased are buried with offerings to the gods and cherished gifts from their family. This young girl was laid to rest with a worn teddy bear, a box of crayons, and a new pink T-shirt.
