I think I’m being pigeonholed with all this track… LOL! But lucky for me, as a former track runner, I love the sport and am happy to shoot it.
The University of Colorado hosted this year’s Big 12 Meet and it was really fun to shoot. I really like the shot of Billy Nelson coming out of the water pit as he runs the steeplechase because of the reflection of his foot. Also, I thought framing the disc thrower between the chain linked fence was an interesting approach to photographing the event. Lastly, CU won the meet and there were some really fun reaction shots at the end of the meet. My goal was to incorporate the highly recognizable flat irons into the shot because they are in a lot of ways an icon of this university.
