After finishing college I bounced around the country doing photography internships and gaining invaluable experience working alongside seasoned professionals at various newspapers. One summer I worked in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Deseret News and this image was made at Bountiful’s Summerfest International. It is one of the oldest photos I keep in my portfolio and I still really love all the perfect light and quiet beauty of this image. The girl was a South Korean dancer and I took this photo backstage before her performance. I love, LOVE, backstage moments. There are so many uniquely original moments that happen in the hustle and bustle behind the curtain. This is also why I love capturing the getting ready portion of a wedding day. She had no idea I was there taking her photo, and I really like how the photo captures her looking so natural, so calm and at ease.
I have always loved this photo but I have to say that the story makes it even more special 🙂
